my mum was laughing to him about this situation on the tv when the dad met the boyfriend before prom; the dad then started pumping iron as he interrogated the boyfriend on his intentions (she was teasing my dad about this because my dad is famously protective) 

and my dad snorts and says “i’m not going to do that. mickey has higher standards than i do”
